I'm writing this mail from a PC with an Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard - that's a Socket 939 motherboard with a VIA KT800 chipset. The motherboard works flawlessly and all the inbuilt components (both VIA and Promise SATA controllers, ethernet and sound) work with no problems with the opensource linux drivers that are already in the kernel. However, if you're buying, you should probably be looking at a AM2 slot based motherboard as Socket 939 is on its way out. nForce chipset based motherboards also work well with linux, if you don't mind using their proprietary linux drivers to get all your components working under linux. - - --Vinu. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iD8DBQFFdu0MfQe5A1YbfuURAjmDAJ0e2YGyJ12ImPttO+sjXNTp5XoclACcCoMA QPIXD42YcCUqQh5sMn99vlA= =7yFn -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
