HI aane...
the S.M.A.R.T warns u about eminent system failures or hard disk
malfunctions...if u want to enable it u can do itin the BIOS when booting
up..i think it's DEL or F1...or it's system specific....i have mine enabled
because i can come to know of any problems in advance..if u have doubts
about anything check out www.webopedia.com they have the most comprehensive
information about any computer related aspect....
heres what they say
Acronym for Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology, an
open standard for developing disk drives and software
systems that
automatically monitor a disk drive's health and report
potential problems.
Ideally, this should allow you to take proactive actions
to prevent impending
disk crashes.
take care
