Hi,
You can make your own PLIP cable for less than Rs.60. Just read the
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/networking/PLIP.txt file (It is also talked about in a
PLIP HOWTO). It talks of two modes, the second mode is supposed to be faster but is
unfortunately not supported (I learnt from bitter experience). We use PLIP at our
hostel, using home-brew cables. You get good speeds, but only two computers can be
connected (actually three, if every computer has 2 parallel ports). So, you cant
really have a *LAN* or anything of that sort. Just find some guy who knows some
soldering and stuff, and make your own cable.
Bye,
