OK, I double checked with the Sb Live web site.
The Sb Live does not have a built in Power amp. it only has a pre-amp.
So you need to connect either extrnally powered speakers or connect thru a
proper amp.

You are correct again Sridhar. Not all cards have the amp. And some
speakers
have built-in amps [say mercury] And some of those cards who have the
amp on
board feature a switch to de-activate the same... etc etc... And most
speakers
given with PCs [like mercury these days] are the ones which feature
'this amount
of power in the range of ~10 volts'
