I am a bit sick of all these ppp connect complaints - all of them appear
to be config related.

Do me a favour - try this:

1. Run

wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf

Once your modem is detected, edit /etc/wvdial.conf and add your ISP phone
number, userid and password in the obvious places (remove the ; from the
beginning of the lines).

2. Run

wvdial

And see if it connects.

If it does, hit ctrl-Z and run "bg" to background it.

All this to be done as root.

If it consistently refuses to connect, add

noauth

to /etc/ppp/options

and try again.

To disconnect, run

killall -HUP wvdial

wvdial is the proggy that does the real work for the gooey rp3 (RHL 6.1's
"Dialup Networking" clone). Every RHL 6.1 system should have wvdial
installed by default. If not, pop in the PCQ CD, mount it, and run

rpm -ivh /mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS/wvdial*.rpm
