There has been much distress recently about pppd dying. I now
remember that ppp modules were recently split into ppp_generic and
ppp_async and are handled via /dev/ppp (char-major-108). In case Jeffery's
kernel uses ppp as a module, he would require two entries in his
conf.modules
alias tty-ldisc-3 ppp_async
alias char-major-108 ppp_generic
Since I do not use Red Hat, there is no way for me to check these
things, but I just thought it might be important......
