At the beginning of installation, the system will ask for autoprobing of
devices.  At this point, the list will contain only SCSI and NETWORK CARD.
>From this list, you can select network card & it will auto-probe the card.

Otherwise, use  netconf  & put the device accordingly:

ne2000  for 16-bit,
ne2k-pci  for PCI.

In some machines, after changing the BIOS settings, we have to cold-boot
the system.  Then only, the network card will initialize.  This may be
encountered in your case.  Any how, please run card setup program from DOS
mode & then install Linux.
