I'm only hazarding a guess because I don't know how many other 
processes/daemons are working on your server.  The delay is probably due to 
other processes running in parallel.  I would suggest that you check your swap 
file/memory allocation, and the file system (ie have you put a separate disk 
for the swap file, etc.).  Additionally, you must check the procmail 
configurations (ie. at what interval should the system check for mail).  Hope
