Hi Sandeep, Wassup !! BTW Happy New year to you and everyone at Pune!!! You might still need the swap Space, it is always good to have a good amount of swap space ( This was recently discussed at the OpenBSD misc mailing list and it is archived also in case you want to have a look ). Of course the normal notion of twice the RAM for swap space might not be good ;-) You can have a swap space of either 256MB or 512MB ?? Any comments ?? And which fdisk are you talking about ?? DOS fdisk ?? or linux fdisk ?? if it is DOS fdisk, I am lifting my hands. ;-) If it is linux fdisk, then you might want to have a look at the jumper at the rear of your HDD or enable LBA mode in BIOS or listen to the gurus here on the LI. ;-) HTH Khader ---------------------------------- @}-------- Syed Khader Vali Debian 2.2.1 ( potato ) [EMAIL PROTECTED] Kernel 2.3.35 # 91-80-5262355 Extn:2527 Public Domain SoftWare <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> on 01/02/2000 10:27:08 PM i have a compaq proliant server P2-450 Xeon with 1GB RAM and 9GB SCSI disk. do i still need swap space? any suggestions on how much? one more problem fdisk doesn't see all of 9GB? -------------------------------------------------------------------- The Linux India Mailing List Archives are now available.
