Yes and no.

The system i hacked is a ASUS P5-AB Motherboard with a HP 5200C USB
scanner (kernel 2.3.38). The device gets reported in
/proc/bus/usb/devices with the USB and HP scanner modules loaded but
sane dies with an input/output error when i run xscanimage. I did manage
to get 5% of the image once in the preview pane before sane died.
I am yet to figure out whether it is a prob with the USB driver or with
sane's USB support!
Another quirk i noticed is that if u load the modules *after* the
scanner goes into sleep mode, the device does not get registered. U need
to switch the scanner off and on to get it up and kicking!
