No, it worked for PS also - but I was using a Deskjet 670c, not a DMP.
Earlier, neither text nor PS was being printed (only multiple blank pages
in the case of PS, or heavily stairstepped text).  It worked anyway :)

If not Epson 1050, try a generic Epson driver and see what happens.  Or
download the appropriate driver from the Epson website if it exists.  If
there is no driver there, search for it on http://www.google.com/linux
