Thus spake Rajesh Fowkar: > Ishmail (X based email client) is using sendmail to deliver the mail > to the pop server. If I send any message from Ishmail the from field > address goes as username@domainname. No reply-to address settings > present in Ishmail. Then Ishmail is a hopelessly broken MUA (mail user agent). Any MTA with half a clue can set the sender envelope. OTOH, Ishmail ~is~ meant to be used on a LAN, for intranet mailing, as you mentioned in a prev post. > Then Suresh suggested the following : > /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -oi -oem -f [EMAIL PROTECTED] > But that too did not work. > If I create a new login *rfowkar* and send mail through Ishmail it's > sending correct from address ( [EMAIL PROTECTED] ). But I don't > want to create a new user just for the sack of accomplishing the You can't have the cake and eat it too :) > above. Since if from other user login's say my brother/sister sends > mail then that should also be tagged as from [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Can I send mail from login rajesh such that from field is substituted > as [EMAIL PROTECTED] instead of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Apparently you can't - you've tried all the methods possible. Ask the ishmail developer as a last resort, and then use this login / dump ishmail. OTOH ~you~ use ishmail and your bro / sis can use Pine / Mutt / Netscape / KMail or whatever.
