Do not confuse /var with /home for mail. Once you read your mails, they
are kept in your area [unread messages stay in /var/spool/mail/yourname
as a single file but when moves to read-messages (in PINE, baki pata
nahin), they are transferred in your area]

The configurations I have outlined are the ones needed on my PC which is
going to be a server for 3-4 people. The specifications depend on
purpose. but this much iusually works..
