I believe there are two types of installations mentioned, right? Choose
the 'local' installation. You may also ask Rajesh [Fowkar] about it.

I faced the same problem. I was trying my installation with VGA server
in 16 colours at 640x480 resolution. Meanwhile FBDev came in and I got X
back at 1024x768 at 32 bpp. 

After that, installation of SO went damn fine, the local-installation of
course. These are probably independent events. Since at my time the
machine was hanging AT the personal-details thing, I was unable to even
SEE the 'types of installation''s "OK button".

Crazy illogical thought. What is the resolution and colour depth you are
running at right now?
