Is that a winmodem? If it is then forget about Linux. I am still cursing
myself for going for an internal modem instead of an external modem. Why
don't you check one of these websites....i forget the URL...the link is
available at www.tux.org .....it has a huge table listing all modems that
can/cannot be configured in Linux. As far as I know only winmodems
containing one of the 'rockwell' chips can be used with Linux, and that's
because the company was kind enough to provide the linux drivers for it.
Most other companies won't even bother.
