Greetings. I am new to the list.

I look forward to getting IRDA working, but for now I am
having a few problems and I have a few suggestions/changes:

I have a Toshiba Tecra 8000 (ToshOboe: Found 701 chip at 0xff80 irq 11)
I am trying to connect to a HP DeskJet 340 using the HP C3277A printer
dongle. Software is RedHat 6.0, 2.2.11, PCMCIA 14,
irda-utils-0.9.3-pre8.

The modules load, but when I try to ls >device I get the following:

  # ls >/dev/irlpt12
  ls: write error: Link has been severed

Trying lpd give jobs queued but cannot start daemon error....

The program irdadump reports that it found the printer:

So for now, I am stuck.

I made the following changes to get the package irda-utils-0.9.3-pre8
to work:

  irdaping, comment out:
    //#include <net/if_packet.h>

  /etc/irda/printer -- create the device, link to a "standard"
    name that my printcap can use, change permissions so they
    match other /dev/lp* devices, and then restart lpt:

    rm -f /dev/${device}*
    minor=`grep irlpt /proc/misc | awk '{ print $1 }'`
    mknod /dev/${device} c 10 `expr ${minor}`
    chmod 664 /dev/${device}
    chgrp daemon /dev/${device}
    MYDIR=`pwd`
    cd /dev
    ln -sf ${device} irlpt
    cd $MYDIR
    /etc/rc.d/init.d/lpd restart

  /etc/irda/drivers -- add:
    modprobe toshoboe

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

Cheers,
