Hi I'm having trouble getting my HP OmniBook 7100 to use the built-in IR. I'm running Mandrake 6.0 with a 2.2.9 kernel (and with the irda2 patch) and IRDA stuff all configured as modules. During boot the IR port gets recognised as: ttyS00 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is 16550A ttyS01 at 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is 16550A Running irmanager -d 1 gives (in syslog): ... irmanager: executing '/sbin/modprobe irda' ... kernel: IrDA (tm) Protocols for Linux-2.2 (Dag Brattli) ... irmanager: executing 'echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/irda/discovery' ... irmanager: + 0.1 Fri Jul 25 11:45:26 1997 Dag Brattli ... irmanager: + 0.1 Fri Jul 25 11:45:26 1997 Dag Brattli ... irattach: Serial connection established ... irattach: tcsetattr: Input/output error And that is the problem. At this point, as far as I can tell - it should all work - I'm trying either: cu -s9600 -l/dev/ttyS1 or cu -s9600 -l/dev/irnine The first gives: cu: ttyS1: Line in use And the second looks more promising, and gives: Linux-IrDA: IrCOMM protocol ( revision:Tue May 18 03:11:39 1999 ) Connected. But doesn't actually seem to send or receive (from my Nokia 8810), and sometimes doing this hangs Linux. Any ideas? Ultimately I want to run pppd over my Nokai 8810 and link my VMWare-based Windows-98 machine to the IR port (by telling Win98 it is com1) and sync Outlook to mt HP Palmtop - is that dreamsville? -- Cheers Jules. _______________________________________________ Linux-IrDA mailing list - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.pasta.cs.UiT.No/mailman/listinfo/linux-irda
