I have also problems with getting the IrDA to work.

If it wasn't for the fact that I got it to work one time I would have given up
long time ago.
But since this one time that worked for me, I have upgraded my kenel
(currently 2.2.13 and 2.3.24 with IrDA patches applied) and have no luck with
getting it working. I'll try the 2.2.13 kernel with patch1 only.

BTW: The kernel failes to compile when the SMC IrCC option is included and the
module fails to load if SMC IrCC is compiled as module in 2.3.24 with pathces
applied. The problem is irport_change_speed function which is commented out in
include/net/irda/irport.h. But since is is commented out, i'm sure there has
to be a reason for this...

My computer is BESTpal (knowm as Palmax PD-1000 in many other countries, specs
http://www.besttech.no/products/bestpal/bestpalspec_h2.htm).
My phone is Nokia 9000 (early model).

I have also a quick question:
What is the propper way to set up the /dev/irnine device, and which lines
should be included in /etc/conf.mofules?
Browsing through the docs on net I found several possibilities:
mknod /dev/irnine c 64 60
mknod /dev/irnine c 161 0

alias char-majon-60 ircomm_tty
alias char-majon-60 ircomm-tty
alias char-majon-161 ircomm-tty

???
