Hi again-again :) First, I guess I should say happy birthday to Dag, yes? :) Hope you're having a blast of a party :) Then.... I still fail to get the IrDA stuff running on Linux 2.2.13 & patch 2.2.13-irda6 - even after trying Dag's suggestion (irattach rather than irmanager). I really hope that you good people can help me out - again :) A summary of my setup: Kernel 2.2.13 + patch, all IrDA as modules. IR-device on 2nd serial port. IrDA utils v. 0.9.5 (worked before I upgraded - that was with kernel 2.2.12 patch 3 or 4.). laptoy:~# cat /etc/conf.modules # IrDA alias tty-ldisc-11 irtty alias char-major-161 ircomm-tty laptoy:~# laptoy:~# ls -l /dev/ir* crw-rw-rw- 1 roott root 161, 0 Nov 15 02:29 /dev/ircomm0 crw-r--r-- 1 roott root 161, 1 Nov 24 02:13 /dev/ircomm1 crw-r--r-- 1 roott root 161, 16 Nov 24 02:13 /dev/irlpt0 crw-r--r-- 1 roott root 161, 17 Nov 24 02:14 /dev/irlpt1 laptoy:~# depmod -a laptoy:~# modprobe -l /lib/modules/2.2.13/net/irda.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/net/irlan.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/net/ircomm.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/net/bsd_comp.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/net/ppp_deflate.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/w83977af_ir.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/toshoboe.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/tekram.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/smc-ircc.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/pc87108.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/litelink.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/girbil.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/esi.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/airport.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/actisys.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/ircomm-tty.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/irtty.o /lib/modules/2.2.13/misc/irport.o laptoy:~# modprobe irda laptoy:~# lsmod Module Size Used by irda 127457 0 (unused) 3c589_cs 7560 1 ds 6152 2 [3c589_cs] i82365 28872 2 pcmcia_core 50016 0 [3c589_cs ds i82365] Okie. Then I run irattach: laptoy:~# irattach /dev/ttyS01 -s 1 1.1 Tue Nov 9 15:30:55 1999 Dag Brattli laptoy:~# tail /var/adm/messages Nov 24 22:39:50 laptoy irattach: Serial connection established. Nov 24 22:45:44 laptoy kernel: IrDA (tm) Protocols for Linux-2.2 (Dag Brattli) Hmm....but nothing like what I used to get - like what is in the howto here: http://www.snafu.de/~wehe/IR-HOWTO-5.html#ss5.3 And ifconfig -a gives no irda0-port...someone suggested that I tried ifconfig irda0 up...that gives this: laptoy:~# ifconfig irda0 up irda0: unknown interface: No such device (which is what I would expect since no irda0 was ever registered anywhere). So now what? I am probably missing out something obvious (like last time) - and I would be happy for any advices or help. Btw., would it be of advantage to upgrade to a kernel 2.3.x with respect to IrDA-stuff? OR is 2.2.x+patches "just as good" (I hope the later, I dislike the thought of experimental kernels on "really really important boxes" such as thisone). Please advice - and thanks for your time. -- Mange hilsner / Sincerely ------------------------------------------- Thomas Heide Clausen Civilingenir i Datateknik (cand.polyt) M.Sc in Computer Engineering E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] WWW: http://www.cs.auc.dk/~voop ------------------------------------------- _______________________________________________ Linux-IrDA mailing list - [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www4.pasta.cs.UiT.No/mailman/listinfo/linux-irda
