I am using the connector on an ASUS P2B and it works flawlessly. Perhaps the
connector is connected wrong? You should also enable "Infrared" in the BIOS
setup for the corrosponding serial interface.
If it doesn't work then, you can also try to look on the infrared LED with a
CCD camera. The IR LDE should be seen as blinking in the camera after the
drivers are loaded (and the irmanager is started on older versions).
