Hi everyone!

Firstly, my setup:

HP OmniBook XE, findchip reports IR chipset as
"NSC,PC87338,11.2,0x398,0x2f8,0x2f8,3,3,1,0,1", running Win98/RH 6.0,
Kernel 2.2.14

Hacked together PC, Asus IR module hooked onto motherboard replacing COM2
presumably running at 115.2 kbps, running Win95

With both machines running Windows, IR works great (albeit at SiR), both
machines see each other and I can copy files between the two.

When I drop the OmniBook into Linux and do the following:

insmod irda
insmod irlan
irmanager ("modprobe pc87108" is run from /etc/irda/drivers)

The desktop '95 PC sees the laptop fine, and if I "cat
/proc/net/irda/discovery" on the laptop, I see the desktop machine.

Then I become a little lost :(

THe IR-HOWTO states that I have to set up an ethX device, but I can't see
how to do it properly, I tried with ifconfig eth0 up... but I get errors
and it doesn't work.

Can anyone help me set this up so I can at least copy files between the
two machines?

Thanks in advance for any help...

Matt
