Hi!
I'm having the same (?) problem with an ericsson SH888 and (unpatched)
linux-2.2.14 with the
'old' ircomm_tty driver.

The problem appears to be that as soon as my computer sends a CONFREQ
ppp packet, my ISP goes
quiet. After a while my ppp daemon dies complaining that the line might
not be 8 bit clean since
all incoming data had bit 7 set to 0.

However, if I configure my pppd to be silent and wait for the first
CONFREQ from the ISP, it will
indeed recieve such a CONFREQ, then transmit a CONFACK and a CONFREQ.
Then the ISP goes quiet again.

The problem seems to be either with the phone or IRDA-link since it
works OK if I change port to a standard modem and try again. Maybe the
outgoing line is not 8 bit clean?

Faxing out from the cell phone using 'sendfax' from the mgetty package
works great.

Any ideas?

/Thomas
