Hi,

I have a new remote PC device that can provide mouse, keyboard and
digitizer
tablet functionality (Freedom Writer PRO) .
The device comes with a receiver which has 3 connectors.
The first one is a serial D shaped connector which gets plugged into the
Com1 port (9 pin serial port), the other two connectors are male &
female PS2 connectors. The male connector is connected to keyboard port
in PC & female connector is connected to
the keyboard cable. The transmitter has all the above functionality built
in.

I have plugged in the device as mentioned in the manual.
There is no existing driver for this device in linux.

1) Since this device is plugged into serial port , can i use the
existing serial
driver builtin with Linux to get atleast the minimum stuff working.
If i use this serial driver, can i enable the IRDA stack .

2) Should i use the lircd code (drivers/tools existing for remote
control)
to get the device atleast working.

I have tried both
1) Enabled irda stack & tested the device. With this i am not able to
get any interrupts on the comm port. ( i have added some debug
statements in
the the serial driver char/serial.c) . Since there are no interrupts , i
guess the receiver
sitting on Com1 has not been recognised.

2) I installed lircd code & tested the device.
Even with this i am not able to get any input. I have added few debug
statemnets
in the lirc_serial driver.

In both the cases i have followed the mailing lists , linux HoTo's etc
for
installing & getting the utilities up.

What is the easiet of way to get this device up. I want atleast the
pulses to be
recognised by the serial port. Any ideas why the serial interrupts are
not getting recognised. Is there any other configuration to be done.

Thanks & Rgds
deepa
