I am having some trouble getting my Motorola L Series+ to work with an
ACER Travelmate 14T. I believe this phone is the same as the Motorola
7389.

It works quite easily with Win 98, If I set it up as a standard modem
via the COMM port emulation provided with the IrDA support in Windows.

> findchip -v

Found NSC PC87338 Controller at 0x2e, DevID=0x0b, Rev. 2
SIR Base 0x2f8, FIR Base 0x2f8
    IRQ = 3, DMA = 3
    Enabled: yes, Suspended: no
    UART compatible: yes
Half duplex delay = 0 us

When I place the phone near the IR port I get the following:

> cat /proc/net/irda/*

Now at this point I'm a little unsure what to do. I'm using kernel
2.2.14 with the latest IrDA patch. my chat file is as follow:

ABORT BUSY ABORT 'NO CARRIER' ABORT VOICE ABORT 'NO DIALTONE' ABORT 'NO
DIAL TONE' ABORT 'NO ANSWER'
OK-AT-OK ATDT96485555
CONNECT \d\c

and my ppp config file is:

hide-password
noauth
connect "/usr/sbin/chat -v -f /etc/chatscripts/zipmobile"
debug
/dev/ircommnew0
38400
defaultroute
noipdefault
user iainp
remotename zipmobile
ipparam zipmobile
usepeerdns
nocrtscts
xonxoff
mru 296
mtu 296

I assume I sohuld be using /dev/ircommnew0 ??

Here are my modules:

It seems that ppp doesn't receive a response from the modem.

chat[1877]: send (ATZ^M)
chat[1877]: expect (OK)

I have seen cu mentioned several times on this list but I can't find it.
Anyone know which Deb package it comes with?

Should the nsc_fir module work with this chipset. I get a Device or
resource busy message when I tried to modprobe

Anyway I feel like I'm missing something very obvious but after reading
the HOWTO and scanning this list I am still at a loss.

Any help would be appreciated.
