Hi !
Here at work I have two IrDA-Laptops:
A Toshiba 4220 (FIR, modified toshobe driver which recognises the chip
as a 0x701)
and a Sony VAIO C1XN with the nsc-ircc river.
I read the HOWTO but this seems to be somewhat outdated since it talks
about
irlan-server and irlan-client modules which era not available on my
machine. Kernel is 2.2.14/2.3.99-pre1, irdautils 0.9.10
I just want to do ip over IR, so I insmod "irda" and
"smc-ircc"/"toshoboe"
on both sides. I get an irda0 on both sides, and if I do ifconfig with
some
192.168.x.x addresses and try an irdaping to
the other's address, I see send _and_ receive frames in irdadump, but
the sending side says in /var/log/messages:
irlap_state_ndm() not implemented!
Using normal ping shows that frames arrive at the other side, but they
don't get
answered (I guess I have to link it to irlan, but how ?)
I tried insmoding irlan with acces=[123], but the ip-pings don't get
answered.
So, some questions remain:
- Don't I need the irlan modules ? Inserting them doesn't help :( They
just
hang around unused.
- What's wrong with my protocol stack ? The frames are displayed with
the correct
addresses (so no errors), so why does ping can put them on the
interface, but
not get the responses back ?
- I tried starting irmanager, but no use.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Walter
