Hi all,
The Linux-2.2.15 kernel is out, and we now have the best IrDA suppport ever inside
the Linux kernel. The bad news is that a bug was introduced right before the release
of 2.2.15 and the patch didn't make it into this release., but most of you should not
notice this bug. A patch is however available in patch 2.2.16-pre2 from Alan Cox if you
should need it. I will submit this patch to the 2.3.99-pre code ASAP. This patch should
also fix all identified problems with the Linux IrDA stack, so you should consider
upgrading if you know how to patch.
Some other good news is that I'm now a member of the IrDA Architechture Council, and
I'm also the current editor of IrLAP. The Open-OBEX project (and PyOBEX) got 4 or 5
errata proposals approved at the last IrDA meeting in San Francisco. This means that
Open-OBEX are at the cutting edge of OBEX development.
PS. You might have noticed that I've not been very active with IrDA development for the
last weeks, and the truth is that I've been hacking on a Gnome email client called
Pygmy.
The new release is scheduled for the 19th of May. My old mailer (GNUS) couldn't keep
up with all the mail I got, and learning elisp is out of the question!!
