Hi,

I am trying to get an IrNET connection between two sony laptops. They
connect fine using the actisys dongles, and will even connect if I use one
dongle and the built-in infrared (SMC). The problem is when I try to talk
from one to the other directly.

Irdadump will show their advertisements - so they see each other. But when
I try to connect (and they switch to 4000000), I get a message that irlap
does not see traffic, dmesg shows a watchdog event, and things get stuck
until they fall back to 9600, and the advertisements start again.

I tried connecting to a NetBeamIR, using irlan, and the same thing
happens, so I think there is a timing problem - some layer is giving up
too early. What can I tweak to make it work? I did not change any
parameters on /proc/sys/net/irda. I do not know how to limit speed to
1.5Mbps, which also could help. I would like to start with the lowest FIR
settings and go up to see if I can get FIR working at all.

BTW, I can connect to the NetBeamIR using the actisys dongle.

        --luiz
