I'll try to describe how I have gotten my to work..
only SIR mode, aka. Cell phone speed.
first I inserted irtty, ircomm, ircomm-tty and the irda modules.
then I runned irattach /dev/ttyS0 -s 1
but try to use ttyS1 that is more likley to be your irda port..
try to look at boot time to see which port might be your irda...
after that I create /dev/ircomm0 161,0 i think the block modes is
supposed to be ;)
then I turn on IrDA on my cell phone (Siemens S25) and cat
/proc/net/irda/discovery
and there the phone was..
after that at last, I made a special ppp script for my cell phone which
used /dev/ircomm0 for modem devices instead of my usual modem...
