devfs is just an unnecessary complication. The important bit is that
the device files have the correct major/minor numbers:
ls -l /dev/ircomm*
crw-rw-rw- 1 root dialout 161, 0 Dec 2 1999 /dev/ircomm0
crw-rw-rw- 1 root dialout 161, 1 Feb 3 2000 /dev/ircomm1
crw-rw-rw- 1 root dialout 161, 2 Sep 12 1999 /dev/ircomm2
Given the correct environment variables:
$ env | grep PILOT
PILOTPORT=/dev/ircomm0
PILOTRATE=57600
$ pilot-xfer -l
Waiting for connection on /dev/ircomm0 (press the HotSync button now)...
....
All works fine. pilot-link-0.9.3 from source.
