I didn�t follow the discussion, but I have a SH888 communication via Infrared
to a tekram-serial-port-adapter-dongle that uses the Linux IRDA support.
I use it to send SMS as the serial cable for the modem works only under
Windows.
If anybody needs sample config or /proc/net/irda output I could provide it.
