Also, the new ppp driver in this kernel may need extra configuration, like this :

The last line, that I have suggested you, is not right.
And it may cause misunderstanding with your Internet Provider.
ppp-compress-21 must keep it default value: "bsd-comp"
If you have not bsd-comp module, disable it with the
/etc/ppp/options.irnet configuration file:
