Good point, I'll add that.  I don't see it becoming standard in distros any
time soon, since the FS is still a ways from being acceptable for the mainline 
kernel and our user community is relatively small.  Luckily the VFS changes
rarely enough that building externally should work

Riocp is still the easiest way to upload a large collection.  The idea behind
lkarmafs is to make the Karma appear like a big directory of files, so you can
look at it and manipulate it with regular unix tools.  The tree looks like:

karma/
 `- taxi/
 `- tune/
   `- Disco/
     `- Bee Gees/
       `- Some album/
       `- Some other album/
      `- Donna Summers/

etc, as opposed to the way it actually appears on the karma, such as:

karma/
 `- fids0/
   `- _00000/
     `- [lots of cryptic file names]
      

Uploading is a bit involved because of having to set the properties for
duration, album, artist and title and stuff like that.  It works great for
copying tracks off or just playing music off of the device without a GUI.
