Hello,

Depending on the tagging program, ID3V1, fixed length tags are
padded with trailing whitespace or with NULLs. Recent versions
of lame (e.g., 3.96.1) pad with NULLs, but old lame versions, as
well as recent mp3info (e.g., 0.8.4) yield blank-padding.

Possibly existing padding is ignored by taglib. For many
applications that read ID3v1 tags using taglib, this leads to an
annoying non-uniform presentation of tag contents depending on
which tagging software was used for the different tunes.

More specifically, we've found this behaviour in our linux-karma
applications, libkarma, lkarmafs and the amarok and banshee
rio-karma plugins (see http://linux-karma.sourceforge.net/).
While removing trailing whitespace is quite trivial and has been
included in these applications, by default, it is clearly worth
getting rid of trailing whitspace for all applications.
Therefore, we think it suould be implemented in taglib.

Regards,
EV.
