Hello. I'm an intermediate Linux user running Gentoo/PPC, with the
Linux 2.6.20-gentoo-r5 kernel. I have compiled support into the kernel
for OMFS (with the drivers included in the kernel), and I compiled and
installed the OMFS 0.7.3 module(s), following the instructions on the
web site. However, when I try to "modprobe omfs," I get this error:

FATAL: Error inserting omfs
(/lib/modules/2.6.20-gentoo-r5/extra/omfs.ko): Unknown symbol in
module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

Looking at dmesg, I come across this:

omfs: Unknown symbol __cmpdi2

I also took a closer look at the output when I compiled and installed
the modules, and these lines seem to have something to do with the
problem:

  Building modules, stage 2.
  MODPOST 1 modules
WARNING: vmlinux: 'kd_mksound' exported twice. Previous export was in vmlinux
WARNING: "__cmpdi2" [/home/jonirons/downloads/omfs-0.7.3/omfs.ko] undefined!

>From what I've found while searching on Google, this might be an issue
with PPC and glibc and/or gcc. However, I haven't had a problem like
this with anything else. Do you guys have any idea what's happening on
my system? Is it a problem with some other libraries, is it a bug in
OMFS, or is it just something that might have been overlooked?

I'm really excited to get my Karma & USB working on my computer; it's
a great DAP and you guys appear to have done a lot of good work on
making it compatible with Linux. I hope I can get this problem fixed
before my new hard drive arrives (I had the requisite Karma/Hitachi HD
crash a while ago ;). If you guys need any more information, please
ask. Thanks a lot!
