I think you've been looking at some of the ARM code. Yes, we do manipulate
the CFLAGS (have a look in arch/arm/Makefile) depending on the state of
CONFIG_FRAME_POINTER. This is currently an ARM only feature though.
It would be helpful if you can give some hints about what you're trying to
do.
