        I did try the following before giving up :

$ cdplay
/dev/cdrom: Mauvais type de medium (wrong medium type)
$ dd if=/dev/zero of=/tmp/truc bs=1024k
$ rm /tmp/truc
$ cdplay
$ 

        and, miracle, cdplay did start the audio CD again !
