I got this OpenFWWF firmware for Broadcom to work on Debian Lenny with 2.6.30 kernel package from Ali Gunduz.
Those two files: b0g0bsinitvals5.fw and b0g0initvals5.fw don't need to be taken from proprietary driver(at least in the 5.1 version) . Their respective versions compiled from the free OpenFWWF source work by themselves. However, AFAIK neither Debian nor Ubuntu provide packages for b43-tools in their official repos. Fedora does.
