Try using the pppd options
demand
192.168.0.1:192.168.0.2
ipcp-accept-local
ipcp-accept-remote
The IP addresses are placeholders, most any private IP addresses should
work. The later pppd packages only require the remote IP address,
ppp-2.3.10 is the latest which is necessary for some ISPs. Get it at
cs.anu.edu.au in /pub/software/ppp .
