So i figured i'd try the cutemouse driver(which works with the FreeDOS bootable cd)
Not all drivers will work. gmouse works for me, lmouse doesn't.

so i can use the cutemouse driver instead
Allow it to access the serial port by setting $_com1 = "/dev/ttyS0" Kill gpm if it works in a repeater mode.
