That doesn't help much, it still means that dosemu doesn't work with the default configuration, and noone is really supposed to alter $_mapping.

Is the "mapashm" option new? I see mapshm as an option for mapping, but not mapashm.
Your dosemu.conf is not up-to-date. Please take the template from the dosemu CVS tree, it is there in the "etc" directory.
