Part of my frustration is that xdos doesn't solve the problem. I've not
tried xtermdos, but I will.

I found and downloaded ansi_xterm, but the executable will not run and I
can't build from the source because xmkmf won't run on my system, either.
Sigh.

The app I want to run is text based, not graphical. But, it has the ASCII
line-drawing characters to outline and shadow windows. Those are what are
messed up. Plus, the font is not crisp and clear.
