You need to either put kro.intnet.mu in your \WINDOWS\HOSTS file or run
DNS on the linux box and have win9x tcp/ip properties point to it.

You don't. There's a script for network initialization - I have
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 here on my slackware system which is where it should be
done. The script will probably change for your particular case, but
there's one there. Where is the loopback interface configured?
