        Well, then you don't have ethernet in your system.
        (And linux-ppp is *definitely* wrong place to ask
         this too..)

        By-the-way: Linux does not (yet) have IPv6-over-PPP
        in the kernel.  See RFC 2472.  (No, I am not working
        at it..)

        sit0 is IPv4/IPv6 tunneling device.

        You may need it, if you want to build a IPv6-over-IPv4
        tunnel to somewhere, but the best thing would be that
        your local LAN had IPv6 in it -- does it have IPv6 ?
        If not, you will be IPv6 island and will not get much
        benefit from IPv6 -- you can play with it, but that is
        about all.
