it's "1" so it should be ok. I do have an 
echo "1" /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
line somewhere at the end of the ipchains scripts

I'll try and see what I can learn from the howto, then, and I'll see
if I can figure out the translations. I've added some "ACCEPT"
commands at the end of the scripts so I will not break my routings
during my learning period :-)
