Hi, Dr. Donald Becker,
I tried tulip.c driver on linuxppc (linux for powerpc, powermac
7600/200). I compiled the kernel source 2.1.130 for linuxppc,
which is not so old version of linuxppc. The original 2.1.130
source contained so old version of tulip.c, then I put the
latest version of tulip.c 0.90f (12/17/98).
The compiled kernel recognized the NIC (dec21140AF chip) as
tulip.c:v0.90f 12/17/98 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
eth1: Digital DS21140 Tulip at 0x400, 40 00 51 05 59 5d, IRQ 25.
eth1: MII transceiver #0 config 0000 status 7809 advertising 0001.
eth1: Advertising 01e1 on PHY 0, previously advertising 0001.
But the recognized hardware address was not correct (the correct
one is 00:40:05:51:5d:59). I could put it TCP/IP address with
ifconfig command.
eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 40:00:51:05:59:5D
inet addr:192.168.201.1 Bcast:192.168.201.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:19 carrier:0 coll:0
Interrupt:25 Base address:0x400
After a while, the console screen flooded the error message,
eth1: The transmitter stopped! CSR5 is fc698006, CSR6 320e2002.
I (and probably linuxppc users) would greatly appreciate you
if you could correct these problems.
With Regards,
Kaz
