There really isn't any comparison between a 56K modem connection and an ISDN one. The 56K is actually 52K (but thats changed recently, hasn't it?) and its downstream only; 33.3K upstream. With STAC compression, I get a good 460K bidirectionally on my ISDN line with highly compressable data; 128K otherwise. Plus, you need to think about the latency issues involved: a decently setup 56K modem will get you about 250ms roundtrip from your closest point, while ISDN provides around 40ms. # > Get rid of the isdn line, and do your whole show using pppd through a # > normal dialup phone line ( yes 56 K modem ) G'day! -- n i c h o l a s j l e o n / elegance through simplicity / / good fortune through truth / http://mrnick.binary9.net / not all questions have answers / mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-net" in the body of a message to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
