Using Redhat 5.2, 2.0.36, this is what I did.
Compile the kernel with your NIC as a module, NOT built into the kernel.
Only one alias in conf.modules, the one for eth0.
Make sure that both cards can work in WIN/DOS first. ie: good irq/mem. etc.
