If you don't need a default route on eth0 (Just local network access),
delete your default route. Then PPP will be able to set one. You can
only have one default route. Another option would be to set a route
to the clients intranet after you open the PPP connection. That way
anything that should go to his intranet goes over ppp0, and anything
else goes over eth0. In any case, you shouldn't have to delete eth0
to have ppp0 work. If you really have to have the default route point
to the clients intranet, delete the default route before starting PPP,
and restore it afterwards.
