Actually, installing qpop is pretty trivial.  It's pretty much 100%
interoperable with ipop3d.  It's also got a couple nice features, like not
having the "kiss of death" problem... with ipop3d if someone checks their
mail at the same time as someone else is checking their mail, you get a
"kiss of death" error and your session goes away.  lots of people get this
when they have an office machine that checks every 10 minutes and leaves
the mail on the server and a home machine that they use occassionally to
retrieve all the mail and delete it.
