:)  Thank you for your constructive help - the same to the rest of you!  I
have it now successfully working.

Alas, I am usually a huge RTFM person...  I hadn't read
arcnet-hardware.txt very thoroughly though!  That, and it turned out I had
some hardware conflicts solved by disabling my PAS and my VGA IRQ (the PAS
works again now and I have no need for a VGA IRQ).  I had also not
compiled arcnet support into ifconfig on this machine!  Doh!  Forgot about
that one!  

Mr. Pennarun - thank you for writing an extremely informative and
beautifully helpful set of documentation to accompany your excellent
driver!  I fully appreciate your efforts!

I now have those four cards put to use.  They are all star topology cards,
so they work fine hooked up point-to-point.  I have two in one computer,
with one each in two other machines running as X-terminals.  Very cool.
